Response to Gregory's Blog Question #6

Why was the basketball program called "pork"?

The mayor had setup a midnight basketball program to keep juvenile delinquents off of the streets and from committing crimes. The mayor was trying to keep the crime rates down with this program. The crime rates were not dropping and the town was noticing. The public referred to the mayor's basketball program as pork because they thought that the mayor had set it up for political reasons instead of for benefitting the public as he said it was meant to be.

Full Moon

Sitting by the fire, I can see the moonlight reflecting off the water. The fire is keeping me warm on this chilly night. I hear the sound of the waterfall. Then I hear the sound of cars rushing by, the sound of brakes screaming, the sound of sirens from an ambulance, the sound of dogs howling at sirens. My paradise has been destroyed. I have lost all sense of calmness. Moon, you are the sunshine to my night, but I can no longer tolerate the pandemonium the outside has to offer. I am going inside.

A Winter Walk

On my quest to the pharmacy to pick up my meds, I decided to cut through the woods in order to save some time. On my way home, I once again make my way through the woods. It has started snowing and the visibility is getting incredibly low. I keep hearing these noises. I look around and see nothing, no one. The noises sound to me like whispers. I think the trees might be trying to tell me something. I hear them saying "Get out as soon as possible" and "They are coming for you." I look around again, this time seeing these strange beings covered in white sheets. As they grow closer to me, I feel them sucking all of the happiness out my body, like dementors. I fear that I won't make it home in time for Bonanza.

"Even If She Falls" - Blink-182

And she was, like a starry night
Like a Ferris wheel, full of blue-green eyes
And a heart of steel, always on her own
Almost never real

When the night will begin, the pain it won't end
Even if she falls in love
Back, you want to turn back, your heart will attack
Even if she falls in love

And she was, like a blade of ice
Like a lonely road, clearest day alive
Always sharp and cold, always beautiful
I am such a fool

When the night will begin, the pain it won't end
Even if she falls in love
Back, you want to turn back, your heart will attack
Even if she falls in love
Try to look in her eye, the light is just right
Even if she falls in love
And it isn't so bad, it's driving you mad
Even if she falls in love

When the night will begin, the pain it won't end
Even if she falls in love
Back, you want to turn back, your heart will attack
Even if she falls in love
Try to look in her eye, the light is just right
Even if she falls in love
And it isn't so bad, it's driving you mad
Even if she falls in love

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What makes this song a poem are the similes {like a starry night} {like a Ferris wheel} {like a blade of ice} {like a lonely road} and the repetition of lines {even if she falls in love}
Poem for Anthology
I chose "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe because I enjoy the rhymes and the repetition of the poem.
Metaphor and When I have been Berenger
Metaphor: Elevators are animal traps.
I have been Berenger when I first started high school. All my friends were conforming to what was "cool" according to the upperclassmen. Everyone around me was changing while I refused.
