Auguries of Innocence

A horse misused upon the road
Calls to heaven for human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted hare
A fibre from the brain does tear.

I think Blake is saying that it is wrong for humans to use things in ways other than what they were meant for.  If people are misusing and/or mistreating God’s creations then they should be punished.

Blake used metonymy in this stanza, using heaven to represent God.

  1. Good work, Kayla! How can we know whether or not we are using or misusing something or someone?
